Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electrical, Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.57% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 3.28% or 14.95 points to trade at 471.40 at the close. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) added 3.04% or 26.40 points to end at 896.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 2.60% or 31.50 points to 1,241.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 8.85% or 48.60 points to trade at 500.60 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 7.30% or 122.00 points to end at 1,549.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) shed 7.22% or 6.92 points to 88.92.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1208 to 633 and 413 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 3.35 to $1,636.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.92% or 1.47 to hit $78.18 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.00% or 1.66 to trade at $84.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 114.33.
