Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 1.97% or 2.70 points to trade at 139.45 at the close. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) added 1.61% or 32.00 points to end at 2019.00 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) was up 1.49% or 4.80 points to 327.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which lost 5.68% or 9.65 points to trade at 160.30 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 3.66% or 17.90 points to end at 471.60 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) shed 3.35% or 5.90 points to 170.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1266 to 753 and 328 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.36% or 16.60 to $1202.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.25% or 1.52 to hit $66.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 1.39 to trade at $71.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.2754, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8934.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.25.
