Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 3.06% or 84.00 points to trade at 2,826.00 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 2.12% or 28.00 points to end at 1,348.00 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) was up 2.07% or 33.50 points to 1,651.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 5.97% or 114.00 points to trade at 1,796.50 in late trade. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) declined 4.05% or 5.80 points to end at 137.30 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) shed 3.26% or 11.40 points to 338.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1009 to 741 and 727 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.48% or 12.15 to $2,540.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.01% or 0.76 to hit $74.77 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.82 to trade at $77.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.54% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 100.96.
