Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Mining and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which rose 7.92% or 164.00 points to trade at 2236.00 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) added 3.67% or 18.20 points to end at 514.20 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.40% or 36.00 points to 1094.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which lost 2.74% or 31.00 points to trade at 1102.00 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 2.22% or 15.20 points to end at 669.80 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) shed 1.78% or 29.50 points to 1630.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 880 to 585 and 306 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 6.00 to $1226.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.07% or 0.74 to hit $68.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.43 to trade at $73.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.01% to 1.3019, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 94.84.
