Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Support Services, Forestry & Paper and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which rose 7.38% or 186.0 points to trade at 2708.0 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 6.01% or 368.0 points to end at 6488.0 and MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) was up 5.91% or 1.79 points to 32.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which lost 4.82% or 7.00 points to trade at 138.30 in late trade. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) declined 4.78% or 196.0 points to end at 3902.0 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 4.48% or 25.20 points to 537.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1205 to 868 and 216 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.23% or 4.00 to $1749.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.10% or 0.99 to hit $32.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 0.70 to trade at $35.35 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.2232, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8972.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 99.210.
