Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.96% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB), which rose 3.70% or 71.00 points to trade at 1992.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.68% or 22.40 points to end at 630.60 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 3.67% or 181.0 points to 5111.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which lost 1.24% or 3.35 points to trade at 266.00 in late trade. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) declined 1.21% or 96.0 points to end at 7834.0 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 1.03% or 31.0 points to 2976.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1410 to 610 and 419 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 4.65 to $1799.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.53 to hit $80.97 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.54 to trade at $83.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.3690, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8468.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.965.
