Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Food & Drug Retailers and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which rose 6.62% or 310.00 points to trade at 4,994.00 at the close. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) added 4.30% or 14.80 points to end at 358.80 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN) was up 3.30% or 68.00 points to 2,130.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR), which lost 2.12% or 85.00 points to trade at 3,930.00 in late trade. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) declined 1.65% or 15.00 points to end at 894.50 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) shed 1.42% or 10.60 points to 734.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1091 to 633 and 725 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 2.35 to $2,751.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.01% or 0.70 to hit $69.96 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.72 to trade at $73.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.40% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 104.10.
