Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Electrical and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 13.06% or 111.80 points to trade at 967.80 at the close. Surgutneftegaz L (LON:SNGSyq) added 4.38% or 0.32 points to end at 7.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.95% or 59.00 points to 1552.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which lost 1.17% or 3.00 points to trade at 253.80 in late trade. Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) declined 1.16% or 23.00 points to end at 1967.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) shed 0.86% or 17.0 points to 1970.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1441 to 718 and 219 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.69% or 10.85 to $1568.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.11% or 0.55 to hit $50.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.80% or 0.96 to trade at $54.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.30% to 1.2952, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8431.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.627.
