Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Electrical and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.39% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which rose 4.07% or 46.00 points to trade at 1176.00 at the close. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) added 2.67% or 40.00 points to end at 1536.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 2.65% or 49.00 points to 1896.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which lost 2.17% or 4.20 points to trade at 189.40 in late trade. HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA) declined 1.50% or 11.40 points to end at 747.00 and Provident Financial (LON:PFG) shed 1.44% or 11.50 points to 789.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1099 to 831 and 457 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.46% or 5.96 to $1294.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.82% or 0.42 to hit $50.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.38 to trade at $56.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.03% to 1.3224, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8954.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 92.92.
