Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Mobile Telecommunications and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which rose 3.73% or 9.50 points to trade at 264.20 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 3.65% or 28.80 points to end at 816.80 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was up 3.32% or 95.0 points to 2957.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 9.46% or 70.00 points to trade at 670.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 6.83% or 71.1 points to end at 970.4 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 4.48% or 42.80 points to 912.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1205 to 951 and 127 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.15% or 2.60 to $1772.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.18% or 0.83 to hit $38.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.31% or 0.93 to trade at $41.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.2413, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.9043.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 97.330.
