Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Beverage and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE), which rose 3.25% or 228.00 points to trade at 7248.00 at the close. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) added 2.54% or 45.00 points to end at 1816.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.17% or 23.50 points to 1107.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 3.50% or 18.80 points to trade at 519.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.82% or 19.40 points to end at 669.40 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) shed 2.27% or 44.00 points to 1890.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1068 to 993 and 211 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.48% or 7.15 to $1511.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.61% or 0.32 to hit $52.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.35 to trade at $58.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.08% to 1.2208, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8992.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 98.803.
