Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Industrial, Travel & Leisure and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which rose 7.97% or 256.00 points to trade at 3,470.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 6.90% or 30.90 points to end at 478.80 and Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SWR) was up 2.97% or 101.00 points to 3,505.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which lost 6.56% or 36.20 points to trade at 515.60 in late trade. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) declined 4.32% or 225.00 points to end at 4,980.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 4.31% or 73.50 points to 1,632.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 939 to 833 and 701 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 9.00 to $2,546.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.98% or 1.53 to hit $75.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.36 to trade at $79.00 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 100.65.
