Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which rose 4.16% or 28.80 points to trade at 720.40 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 3.34% or 88.00 points to end at 2,726.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.08% or 16.20 points to 795.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which lost 6.12% or 9.15 points to trade at 140.35 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.51% or 17.60 points to end at 484.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) shed 3.01% or 81.00 points to 2,609.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1072 to 754 and 637 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.68% or 18.20 to $2,672.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.34% or 0.24 to hit $70.07 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.21 to trade at $73.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 101.27.
