Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Financials and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.44% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mobiletron (TW:1533), which rose 10.00% or 3.10 points to trade at 34.10 at the close. Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539) added 9.97% or 3.10 points to end at 34.20 and Bizlink (TW:3665) was up 9.77% or 12.50 points to 140.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 9.97% or 0.61 points to trade at 5.51 in late trade. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.92% or 0.89 points to end at 8.08 and Phytohealth (TW:4108) shed 9.26% or 1.50 points to 14.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 581 to 261 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.58% or 0.24 to $42.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.57% or 0.28 to hit $48.46 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.40 to trade at $1118.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.57% to 32.426, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1970.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 96.90.
