Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Plastic, Semiconductor and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.94% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Scientech Corp (TW:3583), which rose 9.98% or 5.20 points to trade at 57.30 at the close. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) added 9.98% or 0.55 points to end at 6.06 and Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471) was up 9.84% or 0.48 points to 5.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 8.79% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.05 in late trade. Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) declined 4.10% or 1.00 points to end at 23.40 and Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) shed 4.07% or 25.00 points to 589.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 509 to 259 and 145 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.24% or 0.66 to $53.79 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.11% or 0.68 to hit $61.77 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.65 to trade at $1282.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.14% to 30.819, while TWD/CNY fell 0.07% to 0.2195.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 96.125.
