Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Biotech & Medical Care and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Favite Inc (TW:3535), which rose 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.75 at the close. Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) added 9.98% or 8.90 points to end at 98.10 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.90% or 2.90 points to 32.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems Inc (TW:2444), which lost 9.87% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.80 in late trade. Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) declined 5.02% or 0.55 points to end at 10.40 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) shed 4.66% or 2.00 points to 40.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 488 to 295 and 133 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.25% or 0.18 to $71.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.33% or 0.26 to hit $79.54 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.39% or 5.00 to trade at $1294.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 29.955, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2130.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.80.
