Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Machinery and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Globe Union (TW:9934), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Fulgent Sun (TW:9802) added 10.00% or 3.55 points to end at 39.05 and Logah (TW:3593) was up 10.00% or 0.81 points to 8.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Htc Corp (TW:2498), which lost 8.73% or 5.50 points to trade at 57.50 in late trade. Aoc (TW:6289) declined 7.61% or 0.07 points to end at 0.85 and Wowprime (TW:2727) shed 7.20% or 17.50 points to 225.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 655 to 183 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.25% or 0.11 to $43.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $49.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1094.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.37% to 31.651, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1969.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 97.74.
