Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518), which rose 10.00% or 3.25 points to trade at 35.75 at the close. Jung Shing Wire Co Ltd (TW:1617) added 10.00% or 1.35 points to end at 14.85 and Tri Ocean Textile Co Ltd (TW:1472) was up 9.92% or 1.85 points to 20.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included TPK Holding Co Ltd (TW:3673), which lost 4.22% or 5.00 points to trade at 113.50 in late trade. Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) declined 3.93% or 0.18 points to end at 4.40 and Ene Technology Inc (TW:6243) shed 3.66% or 0.70 points to 18.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 434 to 312 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.16% or 0.08 to $49.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.34% or 0.19 to hit $54.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.86 to trade at $1326.14 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.21% to 30.113, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2158.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 92.43.
