Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.83%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 3.20% or 0.180 points to trade at 5.799 at the close. Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) added 2.35% or 2.28 points to end at 99.26 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 0.37% or 0.19 points to 51.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Renault SA (PA:RENA), which lost 3.20% or 2.46 points to trade at 74.43 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 2.21% or 0.30 points to end at 13.29 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) shed 1.85% or 1.16 points to 61.39.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 4.21% to 4.332, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was up 3.20% to settle at 5.799 and Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) which gained 2.35% to close at 99.26.
The worst performers were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was down 3.20% to 74.43 in late trade, Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which lost 3.14% to settle at 7.77 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 3.06% to 35.820 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 452 to 189 and 103 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 8.06% to 19.08.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.33% or 4.45 to $1351.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.42% or 0.65 to hit $46.39 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.60 to trade at $48.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.73% to 1.1265, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8651.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.75% at 94.86.
