Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Diversified Holdings, Telecoms and Hotels & Travel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.57% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. People’s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) added 15.29% or 2.60 points to end at 19.60 and Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) was up 14.08% or 6.70 points to 54.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ), which lost 16.25% or 6.50 points to trade at 33.50 in late trade. Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL) declined 14.29% or 10.00 points to end at 60.00 and Trans Asia Hotels PLC (CM:TRAN) shed 12.13% or 11.40 points to 82.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 69 and 44 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $53.90 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $56.74 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.53% or 6.10 to trade at $1152.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 1.34% to 185.610, while USD/LKR unchanged 0.00% to 150.305.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 102.37.
