Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Services, Beverages & Tobacco and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which rose 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.300 at the close. Colombo Investment Trust PLC (CM:CIT) added 19.71% or 14.80 points to end at 89.90 and Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL) was up 19.23% or 10.00 points to 62.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 23.18% or 400.30 points to trade at 1326.30 in late trade. Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) declined 12.25% or 4.90 points to end at 35.10 and Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL) shed 9.87% or 4.40 points to 40.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 63 and 58 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.78% or 0.49 to $63.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.45% or 0.31 to hit $69.13 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.56% or 7.30 to trade at $1321.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.24% to 207.400, while USD/LKR fell 0.05% to 153.730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 91.83.
