Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Plantations, Trading and Palm Oil sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.14% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG), which rose 10.56% or 5.70 points to trade at 59.70 at the close. Renuka Holdings PLC (CM:RHL) added 9.96% or 2.40 points to end at 26.50 and Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC (CM:SOY) was up 8.45% or 27.90 points to 357.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT), which lost 22.34% or 18.70 points to trade at 65.00 in late trade. Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) declined 21.91% or 324.60 points to end at 1157.10 and Union Chemicals Lanka PLC (CM:UCHE) shed 14.00% or 70.00 points to 430.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 77 and 65 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.19% or 0.09 to $46.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $50.24 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 7.54 to trade at $1290.44 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.09% to 197.205, while USD/LKR rose 0.06% to 153.310.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 93.81.
