Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Investment Trust, Telecoms and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI), which rose 16.79% or 23.00 points to trade at 160.00 at the close. Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) added 14.29% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and Taprobane Holdings PLC (CM:AMBE) was up 13.64% or 0.600 points to 5.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH), which lost 16.67% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.500 in late trade. Palm Garden Hotels PLC (CM:PALM) declined 10.93% or 2.70 points to end at 22.00 and Waskaduwa Beach Resort PLC (CM:CITW) shed 7.14% or 0.20 points to 2.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 95 to 67 and 67 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.04% or 0.03 to $66.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $72.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 1.60 to trade at $1222.60 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.17% to 206.230, while USD/LKR rose 0.08% to 159.970.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 95.05.
