Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Endesa SA (MC:ELE), which rose 2.34% or 0.470 points to trade at 20.570 at the close. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) added 1.81% or 0.076 points to end at 4.276 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 1.78% or 0.134 points to 7.661 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:SGREN), which lost 2.32% or 0.270 points to trade at 11.385 in late trade. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) declined 1.57% or 0.980 points to end at 61.460 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 1.53% or 0.016 points to 1.031.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 76 and 22 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.21% or 2.65 to $1289.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $52.25 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.11 to trade at $61.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1507, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.9024.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 95.067.
