Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Materials, REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:AAV), which rose 7.92% or 0.85 points to trade at 11.58 at the close. Parex Resources Inc (TSX:PXT) added 7.72% or 1.66 points to end at 23.15 and Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX:CF) was up 7.62% or 0.49 points to 6.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD), which lost 18.60% or 4.58 points to trade at 20.04 in late trade. Spin Master Corp (TSX:TOY) declined 16.19% or 6.62 points to end at 34.28 and Equinox Gold Corp (TSX:EQX) shed 14.21% or 0.57 points to 3.44.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 613 to 394 and 99 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.04% to 24.07.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.05% or 17.35 to $1,632.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.17% or 1.95 to hit $88.05 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.61 to trade at $94.55 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.47% to 0.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.45% at 112.84.
