Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Sollers (MCX:SVAV), which rose 1.83% or 8.0 points to trade at 445.0 at the close. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 1.77% or 0.0510 points to end at 2.9300 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 1.71% or 35.0 points to 2079.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which lost 3.30% or 0.0181 points to trade at 0.5304 in late trade. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) declined 3.05% or 7.50 points to end at 238.55 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) shed 2.46% or 3.50 points to 139.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 66 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.83% to 32.890.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1172.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.23% or 0.74 to hit $59.53 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.65 to trade at $62.84 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.31% to 54.683, while EUR/RUB rose 0.43% to 61.297.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.42.
