Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 1.90% or 2.16 points to trade at 116.00 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 1.55% or 2.95 points to end at 193.00 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was up 1.43% or 0.0024 points to 0.1697 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polyus Zoloto OAO (MCX:PLZL), which lost 4.12% or 173.0 points to trade at 4030.0 in late trade. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) declined 3.89% or 368.0 points to end at 9103.0 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 1.99% or 13.50 points to 666.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 107 to 104 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.22% to 21.980.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.30 to $1245.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $44.87 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $47.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.41% to 59.4422, while EUR/RUB fell 0.01% to 67.4640.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 95.42.
