Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which rose 3.19% or 7.10 points to trade at 229.40 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 2.55% or 265.0 points to end at 10665.0 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 1.82% or 7.35 points to 410.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lukoil (MCX:LKOH), which lost 2.46% or 84.5 points to trade at 3344.0 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 2.37% or 0.795 points to end at 32.705 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) shed 2.08% or 17 points to 800.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 109 to 107 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.28% to 25.060.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.12% or 1.35 to $1140.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.56% or 0.30 to hit $54.20 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.26 to trade at $57.09 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.63% to 60.2880, while EUR/RUB fell 1.20% to 62.627.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 103.44.
