Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 3.42% or 3.15 points to trade at 95.30 at the close. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) added 2.20% or 52.0 points to end at 2412.0 and Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) was up 0.90% or 5.6 points to 627.4 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX:SBER), which lost 4.84% or 9.09 points to trade at 178.71 in late trade. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 3.74% or 0.0016 points to end at 0.0414 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) shed 3.37% or 5.46 points to 156.66.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 158 to 51 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.10% to 28.930.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.71% or 8.60 to $1194.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $67.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $74.68 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.26% to 68.2055, while EUR/RUB fell 0.11% to 78.8098.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 95.45.
