Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 4.05% or 1.96 points to trade at 50.34 at the close. Yandex NV (MCX:YDEX) added 1.24% or 47.50 points to end at 3,891.50 and Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX:SBER) was up 0.74% or 1.92 points to 262.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which lost 6.27% or 1.07 points to trade at 16.05 in late trade. Ozon Holdings PLC (MCX:OZONDR) declined 3.68% or 121.50 points to end at 3,183.00 and FGK Rusgidro PAO (MCX:HYDR) shed 3.32% or 0.02 points to 0.54.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 181 to 64 and 8 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 2.14% to 34.75.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.55% or 14.00 to $2,538.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.52% or 1.15 to hit $74.38 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $77.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 91.50, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 101.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 100.97.
