Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 0.89% or 1.40 points to trade at 158.60 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) added 0.25% or 0.80 points to end at 323.80 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 0.21% or 8.0 points to 3806.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which lost 4.39% or 21.8 points to trade at 475.1 in late trade. Surgut (MCX:SNGS) declined 3.33% or 0.970 points to end at 28.185 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) shed 2.57% or 12.35 points to 467.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 148 to 60 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.88% to 19.300.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.81% or 10.49 to $1284.41 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.14% or 0.66 to hit $57.33 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 0.71 to trade at $62.53 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.31% to 58.5622, while EUR/RUB rose 0.44% to 69.4374.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.12.
