Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosneft (MCX:ROSN), which rose 2.51% or 10.05 points to trade at 410.50 at the close. Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) added 2.10% or 280.0 points to end at 13600.0 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 1.94% or 0.0014 points to 0.0737 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which lost 3.83% or 11.40 points to trade at 286.10 in late trade. Unipro (MCX:UPRO) declined 3.74% or 0.1110 points to end at 2.8600 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) shed 3.20% or 0.0312 points to 0.9453.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 106 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.33% to 23.210.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.87% or 9.85 to $1139.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.96% or 1.00 to hit $51.90 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.09% or 1.13 to trade at $55.15 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.93% to 62.3035, while EUR/RUB rose 1.33% to 65.157.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 102.76.
