Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which rose 6.47% or 135.0 points to trade at 2220.0 at the close. Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL) added 5.21% or 7.60 points to end at 153.60 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 4.25% or 5320 points to 130470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sollers (MCX:SVAV), which lost 3.41% or 15.0 points to trade at 425.0 in late trade. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) declined 2.81% or 0.0820 points to end at 2.8360 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) shed 2.51% or 39.0 points to 1516.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 84 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.71% to 41.750 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.81% or 9.60 to $1175.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.72% or 1.62 to hit $58.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.81% or 1.79 to trade at $62.01 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 3.10% to 55.975, while EUR/RUB rose 3.24% to 63.210.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 95.25.
