Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 5.74% or 1.945 points to trade at 35.850 at the close. MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) added 4.41% or 0.1030 points to end at 2.4400 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 4.40% or 0.940 points to 22.290 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which lost 4.34% or 7.72 points to trade at 170.05 in late trade. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) declined 2.55% or 0.750 points to end at 28.640 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 1.86% or 14.00 points to 740.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 96 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.09% to 22.870.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.07% or 0.94 to $1256.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.11% or 0.54 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.45 to trade at $51.07 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.16% to 57.0205, while EUR/RUB rose 0.15% to 62.177.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 98.96.
