Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 6.06% or 9.02 points to trade at 157.84 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 2.81% or 11.20 points to end at 410.00 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 2.62% or 0.870 points to 34.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 6.88% or 0.1580 points to trade at 2.1400 in late trade. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 2.58% or 4.97 points to end at 187.81 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 2.13% or 0.570 points to 26.130.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 120 to 101 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.09% to 23.520.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.88% or 10.05 to $1132.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.26% or 0.14 to hit $53.20 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.28 to trade at $55.20 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.71% to 61.4900, while EUR/RUB fell 0.77% to 63.903.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 103.24.
