Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 4.91% or 4.220 points to trade at 90.090 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 4.79% or 0.1870 points to end at 4.0920 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 4.21% or 1.485 points to 36.795 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which lost 2.26% or 0.725 points to trade at 31.400 in late trade. Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) declined 1.68% or 15.5 points to end at 908.5 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) shed 1.01% or 95.0 points to 9265.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 120 to 80 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.57% to 25.180.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.42% or 17.85 to $1271.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.30% or 0.16 to hit $53.24 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $55.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.26% to 57.0316, while EUR/RUB fell 0.10% to 60.672.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 100.63.
