Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 4.80% or 16.50 points to trade at 360.50 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 4.12% or 5700 points to end at 144000 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 2.97% or 66.0 points to 2291.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which lost 2.73% or 3.17 points to trade at 112.83 in late trade. Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) declined 1.64% or 8 points to end at 480 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 1.60% or 0.340 points to 20.860.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 138 to 114 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.64% to 24.050.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.34% or 4.25 to $1263.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.06% or 1.05 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.11% or 1.09 to trade at $50.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.22% to 62.2402, while EUR/RUB fell 0.29% to 67.736.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.77.
