Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.07% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 9.03% or 0.0062 points to trade at 0.0752 at the close. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) added 1.84% or 0.0175 points to end at 0.9675 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was up 1.20% or 3.50 points to 294.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which lost 4.64% or 5.50 points to trade at 113.00 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 3.20% or 1.130 points to end at 34.140 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) shed 2.86% or 307.0 points to 10423.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 121 to 103 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.75% to 20.170 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.82% or 9.65 to $1162.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.20% or 0.61 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.23 to trade at $54.12 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.53% to 62.3063, while EUR/RUB fell 2.30% to 65.664.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 101.68.
