Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 5.69% or 37.0 points to trade at 687.0 at the close. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) added 4.42% or 2.92 points to end at 69.00 and Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) was up 3.68% or 140.0 points to 3940.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which lost 4.34% or 32.0 points to trade at 705.0 in late trade. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) declined 3.28% or 0.2200 points to end at 6.4850 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) shed 2.62% or 2.90 points to 107.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 85 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.35% to 23.410.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.70 to $1297.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.20% or 0.79 to hit $65.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 1.01 to trade at $75.78 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.24% to 62.0543, while EUR/RUB fell 0.10% to 72.5025.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.05.
