Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM), which rose 3.91% or 2.67 points to trade at 71.00 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 3.19% or 12.80 points to end at 414.00 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 2.83% or 0.890 points to 32.290 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which lost 3.28% or 23.0 points to trade at 679.0 in late trade. Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) declined 1.86% or 2.10 points to end at 110.60 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) shed 1.76% or 39.00 points to 2175.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 118 to 92 and 28 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 3.00% to 25.380.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1301.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.75% or 1.13 to hit $65.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.26% or 1.70 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.82% to 62.2939, while EUR/RUB rose 1.19% to 73.6025.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.36.
