Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 6.14% or 0.655 points to trade at 11.320 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 2.13% or 0.760 points to end at 36.450 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 2.08% or 13.50 points to 663.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which lost 5.58% or 27.9 points to trade at 472.2 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.85% or 4.35 points to end at 148.15 and Detskiy Mir PAO (MCX:DSKY) shed 2.57% or 2.80 points to 106.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 109 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 14.67% to 20.240 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.68% or 8.67 to $1281.87 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.95% or 1.12 to hit $58.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.01% or 1.26 to trade at $63.89 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.96% to 58.9990, while EUR/RUB rose 1.05% to 70.2539.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.80.
