Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 3.76% or 5.50 points to trade at 151.95 at the close. Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) added 2.77% or 129.0 points to end at 4785.0 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) was up 2.62% or 9 points to 352 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which lost 2.63% or 0.0230 points to trade at 0.8520 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 1.84% or 0.850 points to end at 45.400 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) shed 1.64% or 2.24 points to 134.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 112 to 105 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.62% to 16.440.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 1.70 to $1284.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.11 to trade at $57.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.24% to 57.4352, while EUR/RUB rose 0.49% to 67.7391.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.30.
