Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 7.45% or 1.110 points to trade at 16.000 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 6.63% or 0.0049 points to end at 0.0782 and E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) was up 5.28% or 0.1440 points to 2.8700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST), which lost 5.19% or 55.0 points to trade at 1005.0 in late trade. PIK (MCX:PIKK) declined 4.58% or 8.20 points to end at 170.70 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) shed 4.08% or 1.49 points to 35.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 107 to 79 and 5 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of options, was down 6.65% to 45.320.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.53% or 6.10 to $1147.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 1.60% or 0.74 to hit $45.39 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract fell 1.64% or 0.89 to trade at $53.05 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.86% to 61.770, while EUR/RUB fell 0.45% to 65.436.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 99.97.
