Russia shares higher at close of trade

Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Telecom and Oil and Gas sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the RTSI rose 3.56%, while the MICEX index gained 2.22%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the RTSI were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 11.87% or 0.0552 points to trade at 0.5202 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 6.08% or 19.50 points to end at 340.00 and Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p) was up 5.99% or 2.75 points to 48.68 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which lost 4.60% or 3.550 points to trade at 73.600 in late trade. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) declined 3.43% or 1.505 points to end at 42.310 and NMTP (MCX:NMTP) shed 2.94% or 0.0500 points to 1.6500.

The top performers on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) which rose 11.87% to 0.5202, Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) which was up 6.08% to settle at 340.00 and Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p) which gained 5.99% to close at 48.68.

The worst performers were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) which was down 4.60% to 73.600 in late trade, Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) which lost 3.43% to settle at 42.310 and NMTP (MCX:NMTP) which was down 2.94% to 1.6500 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 45 and 8 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.47% or 5.70 to $1225.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 3.24% or 1.58 to hit $50.42 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 4.30% or 2.40 to trade at $58.33 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.75% to 65.635, while EUR/RUB rose 1.31% to 74.922.

The US Dollar Index was down 1.07% at 94.14.
