Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI added 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP), which rose 4.45% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.40 at the close. Semapa (ELI:SEM) added 2.91% or 0.44 points to end at 15.58 and Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) was up 2.27% or 0.08 points to 3.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which lost 0.62% or 0.12 points to trade at 19.14 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) declined 0.50% or 0.10 points to end at 18.98 and Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 6.96.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 20 to 9 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 1.05% or 0.89 to $83.96 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.15% or 0.93 to hit $79.91 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 1.46% or 35.55 to trade at $2,464.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 104.09.
