Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which rose 3.47% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.74 at the close. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) added 1.73% or 0.32 points to end at 18.77 and Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) was up 1.45% or 0.08 points to 5.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which lost 2.30% or 0.24 points to trade at 9.99 in late trade. Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS) declined 0.89% or 0.03 points to end at 3.36 and Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) shed 0.85% or 0.07 points to 8.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 11 to 11 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 1.50% or 1.08 to $73.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.94% or 1.33 to hit $69.92 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.42% or 38.56 to trade at $2,756.96 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 106.25.
