Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which rose 6.50% or 0.8000 points to trade at 13.1150 at the close. Portucel (LISBON:PTI) added 2.37% or 0.0825 points to end at 3.5575 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) was up 2.10% or 0.0265 points to 1.2895 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP), which lost 2.35% or 0.2475 points to trade at 10.3025 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) declined 1.43% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.0690 and Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) shed 1.25% or 0.01 points to 0.79.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 43 to 24 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 4.36% or 2.27 to $49.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.74% or 1.76 to hit $45.36 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.42% or 4.60 to trade at $1090.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.0952, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7027.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 97.58.
