Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food Producers, Automobiles & Parts and Electronic Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 3.43% or 0.56 points to trade at 16.91 at the close. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) added 2.66% or 2.26 points to end at 87.32 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 2.01% or 1.31 points to 66.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which lost 1.56% or 0.26 points to trade at 16.36 in late trade. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) declined 0.89% or 0.55 points to end at 61.56 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) shed 0.87% or 0.200 points to 22.690.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Coface (PA:COFA) which rose 5.10% to 9.26, Solocal Group SA (PA:LOCAL) which was up 4.52% to settle at 7.557 and Plastic Omnium (PA:PLOF) which gained 4.28% to close at 27.68.
The worst performers were Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was down 1.95% to 32.510 in late trade, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which lost 1.56% to settle at 16.36 and SES (PA:SESFd) which was down 1.26% to 26.27 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 433 to 295 and 56 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.22% to 23.07.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.66% or 7.00 to $1063.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.96% or 0.40 to hit $42.11 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $44.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.0565, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.7022.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 100.28.
