Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 1.66% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 3.51% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.590 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 2.49% or 0.35 points to end at 14.40 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 1.71% or 0.020 points to 1.190 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which lost 6.35% or 1.90 points to trade at 27.90 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 4.26% or 4.00 points to end at 90.00 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 2.50% or 0.40 points to 15.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 31 and 19 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.12% or 0.75 to $67.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.11% or 0.80 to hit $72.87 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1218.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.81% to 412.100, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 361.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.85% at 96.27.
