Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 2.67% or 6.00 points to trade at 235.98 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) added 2.42% or 0.15 points to end at 6.32 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 1.79% or 0.020 points to 1.140 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.80% or 4.77 points to trade at 94.51 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 3.64% or 0.020 points to end at 0.530 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 2.87% or 1.48 points to 50.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 43 to 34 and 23 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.21% or 1.12 to $51.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 2.66% or 1.50 to hit $57.92 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.10% or 14.22 to trade at $1311.72 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.75% to 424.570, while USD/NGN rose 0.42% to 356.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 92.47.
